Alonzo Malrey is a former police officer from San Diego, whose citizens were taken by surprise by the powerful earthquake that made the city sink, but soon they realized that they could breathe underwater.
Malrey and the earthquake survivors were rescued by Anton Geist who led them to a local hospital, after being treated, Malrey felt useless for failing to function properly, so he convinced Geist to improve their physicality, transforming him into the creature that he is today, Aquaman did not like what Malrey did and said that if he really wanted to do something important, he should create a police force for the city and become police chief.
When Atlantis was destroyed by the Spectre, who decided to destroy all magic, the survivors of the attack took refuge in Sub Diego, with the help of Malrey who became superintendent of the movement.
Later the serum that was in the blood of the people of Sub Diego began to fail, leaving them unable to breathe in the water. Aquaman then used his mystical powers to resurface the city, some inhabitants, such as Malrey and Lorena Marquez continued their lives underwater and began to rebuild the city.
Sword of AtlantisEdit
After rebuilding Sub Diego, Black Manta kidnaps Malrey and places him in a dome filled with air, to use him as bait to attract the new Aquaman. After rescuing him, Aquaman and his group take him to the mayor's house where he could recover.
