The Aquabeast saw himself as Aquaman's rival for the affections of the Sea King's wife, Mera. Once a man named Peter Dudley, he became the monstrous Aquabeast to challenge Aquaman, and, hopefully, win the love of Queen Mera.

HistoryEdit

Peter Dudley is a young playboy, born into a rich family, who fought Aquaman to win the love of Mera.

One day at sea sailing with friends, he found Aquaman and Mera, with whom he fell in love.

Dudley thought because he was rich he could have anything he wanted, so several times he attempted make Mera his. She was clearly disinterested in him and his money. Dudley childishly deduced that because he wasn't like Aquaman she wasn't interested in him, so he hired the scientist Dr. Hans Ludorff to give him the same physical capabilities of Aquaman. Something went wrong during the procedure and Dudley became a beast, Aquabeast, with twice the force of Aquaman.

After the experiment Aquabeast departed for Atlantis where he battled Aquaman and proved himself to be physically superior to the hero, defeating him in battle. Aquabeast kidnapped Mera but was attacked by Hammuri - an extraterrestrial conqueror.

To protect Mera, Dudley fought Hammuri. During the battle, both Aquabeast and Hammuri fell in a whirlpool from which neither returned.
